The Iowa Basket Weavers Guild was created in 1985 for the purpose of exchanging ideas, sharing experiences, and developing a greater appreciation for all basket makers. The IBWG Newsletter is published quarterly and we have a spring and fall meetings in different locations throughout the state. Membership dues are $10. IBGW@mchsi.com
The spring meeting will be May 22-23, 2009.
It will be hosted by Rebecca Abarr and Sandra Maxa and held at the Town Hall in Milo, IA
The fall meeting will be hosted by MaryLou Kellen and will be at the Art Center in Winterest, on Sept. 4th and 5th.2009
The fall meeting in 2010 will be in Milo, Ia and Betty Curry will be teaching her famous oak baskets on Friday and Saturday Oct. 1st and 2nd Betty will not be teaching much longer, so tell your friends, we want to fill her classes
What happens at the meeting-
Friday afternoon and evening we have classes or an open weave and lotsof sharing.
Saturday we have a short business meeting and classes arranged by the host.
We have a pot luck lunch and a soup pot that the host starts and everyone brings something to add.
A co-op group basket started by the host is passed around and everyone weaves on and at the next meeting, the basket is given away to one of the weavers. We have a mini basket exchange, a white elephant auction, vendors, show and tell and lots of food, and sharing.
